I can’t wait until I get my own classroom!!!!
I can visualize a big room with 23 little desks; in which I will have 5 groups of 4 desks and group of 3. Al the desks will be facing the “somehow the whiteboard” I will be rotating the students and rearranging the classroom seating often. Each desk will have a students name tags and welcome folder with a clue of poem for the week. On the door I will have a welcome poster covering the door. On the poster we will have every students name.
Our classroom will have lots of fun, bright colors, and of course educational posters. One will have weather station, another will have the pledge of allegiance, and another poster will have our classroom’s rules. I will also have a place for educational toys, games that they can use (as a reward) after they have finished their assignments and are being a good with others. I will also keep different types of balls, chalk, and costumes that we can use during recess time.
My desk, table with a couple chairs, and file cabinets will be on a corner arrange in an “L” setting. The table is a place to seat and meet with the parents. In front of my desk I will have a big couch with bookshelves full of fun books to read from different genre and age and/or grade appropriate. Books, books everywhere……..I love books.
Besides books, I will have my computer connected to a projector, so that I can show videos or even ply educational videos from PBS. I will also bring my speakers for computer to have music played when we are doing Literature-drama or social studies with dance (movements) and drama... I want my class to be a fun-educational, and place of discovery!!!!!
On wall, I will have our names with our pictures organize in alphabetical order with our birthday date so that we can have a little birthday celebration each month. Also we invite the parents to come and share the student’s special day with us by reading their special book or tell a story about that student.
I am still daydreaming about my future classroom. I think that will happen everyday for the rest of my life. I already love the idea of having the responsibility of teaching and touching a life every day for the rest of my life. Teachers have the power to change lives and change the world through their dedication love and kindness. I owe this love to ALL my teachers and professor who have taught me this through their example, love, and enthusiasm.
And soon, it will be my time!!!
