None of Us is Ever Through Striving

Invested Teachers Exemplify the Pursuit of Excellence. This quote should we our creed. We are the example that those students are looking up to. Our students come to our classroom with the hope that they will be love, respected, accepted, valuable, empowered, and challenged. We must teach and expect excellence by providing things and knowledge that they to succeed in our classroom, and therefore, in their lives.

“I must treat you with dignity” Dignity is the gateway to self-esteem and self-efficacy. To me dignity is heart of caring. When you treat someone with dignity, you are assuring him/her that they are important and valuable, and that you care about their success.

“I want to be a leader in creating a place where each of you becomes more keenly aware of responsibilities in yourself, the people around you, and the power of knowledge. In this place I want us to find together a good way to live.”

I love this quote because it really describe what I really want to create in my classroom…find TOGETHER a good way to live. I know it would not be easier but if I strive for this goal, my students will be enjoy learning, they will become good citizen/mothers/fathers/brothers/sisters… and the most important… they will be empowered to be the future GREAT leaders and of this wonderful Nation.

I really want to show and demonstrate my students a noble love. I want to be that changed heart teacher (“Mrs. Thompson” in the story of the little boy named Teddy Stallard). No the one who enjoy marking a big red “F” in his paper. http://makeadifferencemovie.com/

I want to be a teacher whose students seen her as friend or the mother that they never had or loss (for some reason) I would like to see or hear from my students succeeds in the future and be there always.

“Love for students just as they are—without any drive or advantage toward a future—is false love, enervating and disabling.” (Ayres, Klonsky, & Lyon, 2000, pp.2-3).

The Magic of Morning Meeting Has a Name Sylvia Allan!!!!

It never occurred me how INCREDIBLE AND AMAZING Morning Meetings could be. Sylvia Allan is an awe-inspiring person. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to listened and learned from her.

Sylvia taught me how important it is
to held Morning Meetings. Morning Meetings could be the key factor for the students' learning process. In deed, Morning Meetings can solve almost ANY behavioral and/or classroom management issues in our classrooms. I really love each component of Morning Meeting. In fact, each component is a vital factor to create a community in or classrooms; in which each student will feel welcome, love, and the most important, empower.

My favorite component is Class Business. How clever terms "Vegetables, Desserts
and.....Medicine." Even under these terms used to manage a classroom, we can teach and revisit the definition of Health concepts. How brilliant!
It was amazing to learned how her students did not know what "the medicine" was, but they were so sad and scared of the idea of have it.

That brings me to how important it is to hold our students accountable for their behaviors, set high expectations, and make them to be part of the decision making in our classroom. This strategy help the students to be critical thinkers, well behave, and even problem solving.

In classroom Meetings, students learn and practice Literacy terms, reading skills, language arts skills, comprehension skills, memorization, and social skills. Additionally, the students and the teacher have the opportunity to learn from each other, respect each other, accept each other, and love grows in the classroom... And it Only takes about 20 minutes. The best 20 minutes of our days as teachers, and the best 20 minutes of their life..everyday. This is an investment.

Other aspect that made a big impression on me was the classification of storms to identify misunderstanding or issues in school and therefore, in life. This is big! I didn't know that elementary students could manage their emotions themselves. It really made me feel that it is possible to find the light at the end of tunnel or a rainbow after a storm when it comes to classroom management and real life experiences.

Again, I am so glad that we had Principal Allan shared her Magic of Morning Meeting with us...with me. Now I feel that I really can do this,be a teacher, especially with older classes, special needs, and ELL students.

What in amazing opportunity to teach so many important and vital social skills that are not part of the core curriculum. I loved it!!

Morning Meetings means happy students. And happy students means classroom ready to learn.

Please, Doctor Anderson, tell Sylvia Allan how grateful I am or we are for this Amazing fountain of knowledge that she shared with us.

And Thank you Doctor Anderson for giving us the best of the best sources.

Take this Opportunity to Shape Lives

Teaching is complex; there is so much to do and not enough time.

From curriculum content to students’ needs, the list goes on. But is a wonderful lifetime opportunity to shape lives and to create life experiences through meeting each student’s needs.

One thing that we have to realize is that we, teachers do not posses supper power... I wish we would. Tomlinson’s words made me reflect on the truth of nearly ALL teachers…” We will never do all each child needs.” But we should never give up. Like Esme Codell said: We must “try and try again…Even if we fail, we must try and try again”

We do not have the time to feel guilt about what we missed that day, but we must differentiate and be aware/understand students’ needs. As a result, “students will come to play us.” In other words, students will trust and connect with their teacher and be able to take risk in their learning quest.

The key is to remember to do your best everyday. To exhaust all our means and resources to make our students learning experience the best, and therefore, shape their lives!!!
